Who you'll meet at the door
You meet the owner or a state-registered Tamarack Security technician, and the person who quotes your job is the person who does it. What was agreed on the phone is what happens at the door, because nobody hands your job to a stranger in between.
The company stays small on purpose: one set of standards, and a technician who already knows your door because they asked about it, or looked at the photo you texted, before driving over.

Licensed and insured locksmith in Carlsbad
Tamarack Security is a licensed and insured California locksmith company. The person who comes to your door works for us, not for a dispatch service, and the name on the van matches the name on the quote.
Every technician is registered with the state as a locksmith. The company carries liability insurance, and property managers and businesses can request a certificate of insurance.
Some access-control work may require a CSLB C-7 or C-10 contractor license. We confirm the license class before any such project.
Why the name Tamarack Security
Tamarack Security is named after Tamarack Avenue, Tamarack State Beach and the Tamarack neighborhood, places nearly everyone in Carlsbad has driven past, parked at or given directions by. The avenue runs inland from the coast, and the beach sits at its west end below the sea wall.
"Security" names the work we lean toward: smart lock installation for the newer homes in Robertson Ranch and Bressi Ranch, high-security cylinders with controlled keys, and access control for offices and suites along the Palomar Airport Road corridor.
We are still a locksmith first, and licensed as one. We open locked doors, rekey houses after a sale, and fix the Village storefront deadlock that stopped throwing this morning.
How we work on every job
Every Tamarack Security job follows the same five rules, whether it is a lockout in La Costa or a keypad in Bressi Ranch.
Quote before work
You hear the figure before we start. If the job changes once the door is open, we stop and tell you first.
ID on every lockout
We confirm you live there or own the property before we open anything.
Clean installs
Doors aligned, strikes adjusted, holes sized to the hardware. A lock that binds wears out early.
No upselling at the door
If a rekey solves it, we rekey. New hardware only when the old hardware cannot do the job.
Parts you can look up
Your invoice lists the manufacturer and model number of every part.
Ask the person who will do the work
Call or text with your door, your lock and what you want it to do. You get a straight answer and a quote. Mon–Sat 7 AM–7 PM · Sun 8 AM–5 PM.
Hardware we trust, and what we won't install
We fit Schlage, Yale, Level and Kwikset smart locks, and Medeco and Mul-T-Lock high-security cylinders. Each smart lock brand has parts support, firmware updates and a way in when the battery dies, and each fits the standard deadbolt prep on most Carlsbad front doors.
Medeco and Mul-T-Lock keys are patent-protected and cannot be copied at a hardware-store kiosk, which matters for rentals, offices and anyone who has lost track of who holds a key. We name these brands because we fit and service them, not because of any dealer title.
